We’re looking for a passionate and curious Data Engineer with strong Python skills and hands-on, production-level experience with Matillion ETL. This role plays a key part in building high-quality, reusable ETL patterns and automating robust, scalable data pipelines that power analytics and business decision-making.Matillion ETL experience is a mandatory requirement for this role. Exposure to Project X’s Data Pipeline Control (DPC) framework or generative AI (GenAI) tools is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and maintain data pipelines using Python and Matillion ETL.
- Collaborate with data architects and analysts to define and meet data integration requirements.
- Translate mapping documents into production-ready Matillion workflows.
- Ensure data integrity through quality checks, error handling, and root cause analysis.
- Apply tiered architecture design patterns (bronze/silver/gold models).
- Create and maintain metadata and control structures for visibility and traceability.
- Work with cloud-based data warehouses such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse, or Redshift.
- Participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning and reviews.
What We’re Looking For – Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands-on data engineering experience.
- Proven experience building and maintaining pipelines using Matillion ETL.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with structured and semi-structured data.
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Understanding of data quality practices, error handling, and recovery strategies.
- Ability to interpret mapping documents and accurately implement transformation logic.
- Experience with version control tools such as Git; CI/CD exposure is a plus.
- Bonus: Exposure to GenAI, LLMs, or machine learning workflows.
Nice to Have
- Experience in data modeling, data governance, or metadata frameworks.
- Familiarity with data observability tools or building monitoring dashboards.
- Exposure to orchestration tools like Airflow or transformation tools like dbt.
- Consulting experience or comfort working in fast-paced, client-facing environments.
